Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.)

The Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.) is a four-year, ministry-focused doctoral program designed for experienced pastors, Christian leaders, counsellors, and ministry practitioners who desire to deepen their theological understanding, strengthen their ministry skills, and develop advanced competencies for effective Christian service.

The program follows a flexible modular learning model, enabling students to continue serving in their present ministry context while pursuing advanced theological and ministry education.

The curriculum combines theological study, pastoral ministry, Christian counselling, leadership, practical ministry, specialized training, and doctoral research.

Areas of Specialization

Students may pursue specialized training in one of the following areas:

Marriage & Family Counselling

Training in marriage and family relationships, premarital counselling, marital conflict, reconciliation, parenting, and family crisis intervention.

Pastoral Care

Advanced training in pastoral care, grief and bereavement, crisis and trauma ministry, hospital and institutional ministry, and spiritual formation.

Doctoral Research

A major component of the D.Min. program is doctoral-level research. Each student is required to develop and complete a research project addressing a significant issue related to Christian ministry, pastoral care, counselling, leadership, mission, or community service.

Students will complete a doctoral thesis/dissertation demonstrating advanced theological understanding, appropriate research methodology, critical engagement with relevant literature, and practical application to ministry.

• Research papers

• Case studies

• Ministry projects

• Practical ministry application

• Research proposal

• Doctoral research

• Thesis/dissertation

• Final presentation or defence, where applicable

 

Admission Eligibility

Applicants must have:

• M.Div. or B.D. or an equivalent theological qualification

• A minimum of 10 years of full-time professional ministry experience or its equivalent

• Active involvement in Christian ministry

• A clear commitment to Christian service and doctoral-level study

Admission is subject to review and approval by ITRT.

Scholarship

ITRT is committed to making theological education accessible to qualified ministry leaders.

Scholarships of up to 50% may be available for eligible students, subject to ITRT's scholarship criteria and approval.

 

Programme Completion

To receive the Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.), students must successfully complete all required coursework, practical ministry requirements, specialization requirements, doctoral research, thesis/dissertation, and other academic requirements prescribed by ITRT.
